A Few Things about Atlantis Quest
Can you tell us about your book, Atlantis Quest, in 35 words or less?
With the fate of humankind and the descendants of Atlantis hanging in the balance, Alison and Ian spy on a Truss clan gathering to save the girl who betrayed them both.
What was your favorite scene to write?
I loved writing the drive from the airport to the cabin. Alison and her cousin, Theron, can’t stand each other, and they don’t try to hide it. The sarcastic animosity between them got funnier with each edit. I’m not sure what it says about me as a person, but it was easy to write their dialogue.
What was the hardest scene to edit out?
I cut a scene between Alison and Connor who was introduced to in the first book. The two of them had a moving conversation near the beginning, but it slowed the pace of the story too much. I took it out and put it back in a couple of times before I finally accepted it was best to let the scene go. I love talkative, party-planner Connor. He’s in Atlantis Quest, just not as much as I’d originally planned.
How many books will be in this series?
There will be three books. Atlantis Rising, Atlantis Quest and Atlantis Reborn which is due to release in 2017.
Are you currently working on anything else?
I’m currently finishing up Atlantis Reborn. I have a young adult mystery I need to put final touches on, and I’ve started outlining for a young adult sci fi series.
Do you have a favorite quote from Atlantis Quest?
“That was one of the things that made Ian…Ian. He had confidence. He was only half kidding when he called himself the master. In his mind it wasn’t boasting; it was a statement of fact.
He slid his hand over mine while our breathing slowed, and I laced my fingers through his. The two of us had been through a lot together. When I say a lot, I mean heavy-duty-stuff… life-and-death stuff.
He didn’t shy away from telling me he wanted to be more than friends, nor did he let it get awkward between us when I resisted. That was another thing that made Ian…Ian. He didn’t get embarrassed.”
If you had to give Atlantis Quest a theme song, what would you choose?
Adventure Of A Lifetime, by Coldplay. It fits freakishly well.
